Dr. Michael Schiff was born and raised in Rugby, North Dakota. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology with summa cum laude honors from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. He went on to receive a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2010. Upon graduation, Dr. Schiff was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a dental honor society, for academic achievement.

As chief resident at Christiana Care, Dr. Schiff’s research paper, Myositis Ossificans of the Temporalis Muscle: A Case Report and Review of the Literature was published in the Journal of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and he was selected to present his research at the annual American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS) meeting in Orlando, Florida.
