One of the things I like best about equine veterinary medicine is the variety of people and cases that I see on a daily basis. I enjoy all areas of equine veterinary medicine, particularly sports medicine and lameness, internal medicine, neonatal care, and nutrition. As an FEI veterinarian and competitor, I have an understanding of the many components it takes to get a horse to the show ring. I enjoy putting that together to optimize performance.I grew up on a vegetable farm in Racine, Wisconsin. My life of horses began when I was 3 years old. My aunt Elizabeth, who was not much older than I, kept her horse in our barn. She taught me to ride and led me in my first lead line class at age 4. I followed her through the ranks of Pony Club and 4-H, and even her first job as a veterinary technician in a large animal clinic. By the age of 12, I was set on being an equine veterinarian.
