Dr. Greg Schumacher was born in North Dakota and raised in Wisconsin. He attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he earned a degree in Biology. He then returned to the Midwest for medical school, internship, and residency in orthopedic surgery, all at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

After his education was complete, the Air Force stationed him at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, where he served nine years and developed a thriving practice in sports medicine and joint replacement. He left the service as a Lieutenant Colonel, veteran of the war in Iraq, and Elmendorf’s Chief of Orthopedic Surgery. During that time, he also worked at the Alaska Native Medical Center managing orthopedic trauma.
