Dr. Robert P. Gordon, D.V.M.

Dr. Gordon is the Owner and Director of Oakland Animal Hospital. He joined Oakland Animal Hospital in 1977 after training at a veterinary hospital in Bergen County. He has been the owner and director of the hospital since 1979, and has been creating a culture of excellence in pet care ever since.

Dr. Gordon is highly committed to serving the animals not just of his practice, but of the community at large. He is a past President of the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association and currently serves as the New Jersey delegate to the House of Delegates of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He served two years as Chairperson of the charitable American Veterinary Medical Foundation (http://www.avmf.org/) located in Schaumburg, Illinois. He is a founding member of the New Jersey Animal Preparedness and Response Committee, now known as SART, State Animal Response Team. In this capacity, he worked with first responders at the World Trade Center and continues to assist emergency responders by providing tools and training for animal emergencies. Dr. Gordon is also affiliated with the American Animal Hospital Association, American Heartworm Society, and the Veterinary Ethics Society. In addition to these activities within the veterinary field, he also volunteers his time with the Oakland Animal Food Bank, which provides pet foods to the local residents who cannot afford to purchase pet food in difficult economic times.
