A Westchester County, New York, native, Dr. Guinan earned his bachelor of science degree in biology from Syracuse University in 2000, and his doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 2005 from the veterinary medical school in Prince Edward Island, Canada. In 2006, he returned to New York for a one-year general internship followed by a one-year specialty internship in internal medicine and neurology at Long Island Veterinary Specialists. He completed his three-year residency in internal medicine at the Animal Medical Center in New York City in 2009, joining NorthStar VETS the same year. Dr. Guinan’s clinical interests include hematology, kidney diseases and diagnostic endoscopy procedures. Outside of work he enjoys baseball, football, hiking and striving to fill his iPod with music.
