Dr. Berkowitz joined The Center for Orthopedics in 2007. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in surgery of the spine and was the first surgeon in Lorain County to perform a cervical disc replacement.He has extensive training in spine surgery, sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, fracture care and joint replacement. “It’s one stop shopping when you come to see me,” Dr. Berkowitz explains. “If your problem is coming from your neck, shoulder, elbow, hand, back, hip, knee, ankle or foot, I will be able to expertly treat you.”He also uses many non-surgical treatment options including physical therapy, injections, referrals to pain management, chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapy to help patients heal non-operatively. “The majority of my patients do not have surgery,” he explains. “But when surgery is the best option, I am trained to perform the most advanced surgical techniques.
