James A. Harris, MD, FISHRS, FACS is an internationally renowned hair transplant surgeon and recognized innovator in the field of hair restoration. Actively participating at the forefront of research, Dr. Harris has pioneered and patented an advanced method of follicular unit extraction (FUE), called the Harris S.A.F.E™ (Surgically Advanced Follicular Extraction) System. This method provides FUE grafts of the highest quality by minimizing follicle damage. He was also the lead consulting physician on the development of the ARTAS™ robot, an image- and algorithm-guided system that uses robotics to make the best selection of follicular units for each individual. ARTAS utilizes the Harris S.A.F.E.™ System dissecting system.

He is the chairman of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery’s FUE Research Committee, and leads the organization’s research efforts in the field of FUE.
