One of the main reasons Eric Bernstein, M.D., MPH, became a medical oncologist is the relationship that providers develop with their patients. “Oncologists are there for patients during some of the most difficult portions of their lives,” he says, “and this leads to a special type of understanding and trust when done well.”
During his career, Dr. Bernstein has been fortunate enough to learn from some of the best mentors in the world and is constantly putting what he has learned into service for his patients. Getting to know patients in a very personal way and sharing his understanding of the latest science in oncology allows Dr. Bernstein to help patients make important, and often difficult, decisions. “During patients’ battles with cancer, being in the trenches with them is both challenging and rewarding,” he says.
