Watauga Orthopaedics, PLC, was founded in 1950 by Howell Sherrod, MD. In addition to offering general orthopedic care, Dr. Sherrod focused the practice on innovative treatments in sports medicine, physical therapy, and rehabilitation. Over the last decade, we have expanded our services to encompass a comprehensive musculoskeletal continuum including total joint replacement, arthroscopy, sports medicine, fracture care, reconstructive hip, knee, foot and ankle surgery, hand surgery, spine surgery, neuromusculoskeletal care, physical medicine and rehabilitation, electrodiagnosis, and community outreach services.

Additionally, Watauga Orthopaedics has provided sports medicine services for the following athletic organizations: East Tennessee State University, Virginia Intermont College, Milligan College, Atlanta Falcons, Johnson City Cardinals, Elizabethton Twins, Bristol Tigers, Kingsport Mets, and Johnson City Silver Bullett’s Rugby Team, as well as for the Masters Water Ski Tournament and several professional and Olympic athletes.
