Despite being born and raised in San Francisco and starting my college career at San Francisco State, ending up back here in Rhode Island seemed inevitable. I attended medical school at Brown University and my wife, who is a nurse, is from Narragansett, RI. When we decided to move back to Rhode Island from Virginia, I was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to join South County Orthopedics.
During the second year of my Emergency Medicine residency at Brown, I rotated with the Plastic Surgery service. My experience was profound and lead to a career in Plastic Surgery. From the onset of my training I was drawn to the hand; its form and function were fascinating. During my training my interest in hand and peripheral nerve surgery grew, leading me to pursue a fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, under one of the country’s premier nerve surgeons, Dr. Susan McKinnon.
