Dr. Peterson graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in honors history. He attended medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago, earning his M.D. in 1998. He completed his residency in family medicine at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale in 2001 and then did a fellowship in sports medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He entered private practice in Arizona in 2002 and in 2004 Dr. Waslewski, Dr. Freedberg, and Dr. Peterson founded Arizona Sports Medicine Center. He is board certified in sports medicine and family medicine. Dr. Peterson is a team physician for the Chicago Cubs, the U.S. Ski Team, and Mountain View High School. Every year he travels with the U.S. Moguls Ski Team for World Cup competition. His professional interests include sports medicine, ultrasound guided injections and diagnostic ultrasound, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, percutaneous tenotomy (TENEX), orthotripsy, fracture care, sports injuries, overuse injuries, hip injections, care of young athletes, rock climbing injuries, endurance athlete care, team and event coverage, wilderness and travel medicine, and international/disaster medicine.
