Dr. Tomaras received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Tennessee, where he graduated with highest honors and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

He completed his general surgery internship under the world-renowned heart surgeon, Dr. Michael Debakey, MD, before moving on to his neurosurgery residency at Texas Medical Center, part of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. A leader in the use of new treatments and technologies in neurological surgery, Dr. Tomaras joined Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery in 1998.
