Dr. Couriel received his M.D. degree in 1987 at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in Argentina. After fellowship training at Tufts University, NHLBI and Johns Hopkins University, he was appointed as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama Birmingham. In 1999 he moved to the M.D Anderson Cancer Center in the Department of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
