Dr. Doug Rouse, a board-certified, fellowship trained sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon, is one of the founders of Southern Bone and Joint Specialists, P.A. A native of Hattiesburg, he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where he played football. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi. He completed a one-year fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine at the Toronto Western Hospital in Toronto, Ontario with Dr. Robert Jackson, the first orthopaedist in North America to perform arthroscopy. Rouse has served on various committees and boards in the community.

He is currently serving a 10-year-term on The Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning. Licensed by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Mississippi Board of Medical Licensures, Rouse has practiced orthopedics in Hattiesburg since 1981.
