Dr. DeRose received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery with Veterinary Specialists of South Florida and went on to complete a three-year residency in cardiology at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.

Dr. DeRose is especially interested in the treatment and management of congestive heart failure due to chronic valve disease or endocardiosis. This remains the most common form of acquired heart disease in dogs and he strives to improve the quality of life for animals affected by this disease. He joined the NorthStar VETS team in 2007.
