Dr. Everett grew up in East Haddam, Connecticut, but spent every summer of her life on Martha’s Vineyard, as has her ancestors for generations. Her childhood in East Haddam involved various species of animals, hence forming her desire to become a veterinarian. She first attained her AS degree as a Veterinary Technician, in 1979, at Becker Junior College in Leicester, MA. She then worked as a Veterinary Technician for five years, at Vineyard Veterinary Clinic, in Edgartown, Massachusetts, year-round.

Her desire to further her knowledge in the field of veterinary medicine led her to go back to school and obtain her BS in Animal Science at the University of Massachusetts, in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1988. From there she went on to earn a DVM, in 1991, from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, in St. Kitts, West Indies. Upon graduating veterinary school she worked for a very busy small animal hospital in Burnt Hills, New York (Saratoga County) for seven years.
