Dr. Miles is a Columbia, Missouri native. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Miles then worked for several years in the manufacturing world, living in St. Louis and Florida. He then returned to Columbia to attend the University of Missouri Medical School where he graduated with honors.

Dr. Miles completed a one year internship in general surgery at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics, and remained with the University to complete is residency in Orthopaedic surgery. He narrowed his focus to the spine when he moved to Plano, Texas to complete a one year spine fellowship at the Texas Back Institute.
