Born and raised in Wahiawa, Hawaii, Kyle Frederick Chun graduated from Leilehua High School in 1999 as class valedictorian. He was awarded a full academic Regent’s Scholarship to the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he graduated with highest honors in 2004. While at UH, he was also a member of the NCAA Division I men’s swim team. He then attended the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and graduated in 2008 as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and class president.

Following medical school, Dr. Chun moved his family to Seattle, Washington for his orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center, widely-regarded as one of the nation’s most elite and highest-ranked orthopedic surgery programs over the past 30 years. While in Seattle, Dr. Chun worked alongside and was mentored by world-renowned experts including Drs. Fredrick Matsen III, Milton “Chip” Routt, and Christopher J. Wahl.
