Dr. Collins is a native of Las Vegas, NV. She attended UC Davis for both her bachelor’s degree and her doctorate of veterinary medicine, where she distinguished herself as a leader, being president of both the Equine and Camelid Medicine Clubs.While in veterinary school she was active in the Veterinary Emergency Response Team, receiving specialized training in animal rescue. Her professional interests include reproduction, neonatal medicine, and lameness. She also has an interest in camelid medicine. Dr. Collins joined Great Basin Equine for a one year internship and has remained with the practice as an associate. She is currently living in Minden with her dogs, cats, and horses. In her free time, Maria enjoys spending time with her family and pets.
