Dr. Johnson has extensive training and experience in the use of cutting edge technology and advanced examination techniques to diagnose and manage patients with glaucoma; he has expertise in the use of lasers and surgical procedures to prevent vision loss from glaucoma. His unique and thorough training allows him to offer traditional glaucoma surgical procedures such as tube shunts or trabeculectomy, as well as newer techniques including canaloplasty, trabeculectomy with an Ex-PRESS shunt, or endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation (laser) combined with cataract surgery.

Dr. Johnson grew up in Fargo, North Dakota, and received his undergraduate degree in philosophy at the University of Dallas, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Following graduation, he was awarded a year-long Fulbright scholarship in Hamburg, Germany, and then returned to the Midwest to attend medical school at the University of Minnesota.
