Dr. Kornwitz was born and raised in Boston, MA. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1976 before receiving his medical degree from Boston University in 1980. He then completed his orthopedic residency training at the University of Massachusetts where he trained under Dr. Arthur Pappas, the team doctor for the Boston Red Sox.He also trained at The New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, one of North America’s leading training centers for total hip and knee replacement.
While a member of the faculty at UMass, Dr. Kornwitz provided didactic and clinical instruction in anatomy and adult trauma, and has peer-review publications of his work in the treatment of hip fractures in adults. Dr. Kornwitz was recruited to serve as the Chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare in 1989 before joining West Bay Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery.
