R. Scott. Cowan, M.D., is a consulting orthopaedic surgeon is affiliated with New England Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Cowan received his undergraduate degree in biology from Brown University, a master’s degree in anatomy from the University of Maryland and earned his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Cowan completed an internship in general surgery from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and was a resident and chief resident in orthopaedic surgery at Boston University. He was also a spine surgery fellow at New England Baptist Hospital.

Dr. Cowan is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the New England Spine Study Group and the North American Spine Society.
