Science fascinated and challenged the young Berman and this early interest and aptitude helped guide him toward a career in medicine. After shadowing a high school friend’s anesthesiologist father at work, he was convinced he wanted to specialize in anesthesiology and pain management.

In his practice, Dr. Berman is able to marry his scientific knowledge with a passion for helping people. He believes the most important thing he can offer his patients is education. Education serves to combat the feeling that they are helpless when it comes to managing their pain. By understanding what their responsibilities are in the treatment process and what the possibilities are for quality of life improvement, patients become empowered and gain some control over their condition.
