Dr. Dan Caffrey is a life-long resident of Greensboro and a 1975 graduate of Page High School where he was a valedictorian. He attended Duke University as an Angier B. Duke Scholar for his undergraduate studies, followed by obtaining his medical degree from Duke University Medical  University for his orthopedic residency. Subsequent to residency, Dr. Caffrey completed a one-year sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery fellowship in Richmond, Virginia. He was the first physician in this area to have completed this training.
