Elaine Carpenter, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS

Dr. Carpenter came to Cave Creek Equine Surgical Center in February of 2011. She attended veterinary school and LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She performed her equine internship at Arizona Equine Medical and Surgical Centre and went on to an Equine Surgical Residency at Colorado State University, where she earned her board certification in Equine Surgery. She has been practicing equine surgery and lameness as a board certified specialist since 2000, and enjoys working on the hard to identify, challenging lameness cases. She also has a special interest in medicine (conditions that do not require surgery) and ophthalmology.

Dr. Carpenter is an adjunct professor at Midwestern Veterinary School in Glendale, AZ. She also teaches the Equine Anatomy and Physiology class at Scottsdale Community College. In her spare time she enjoys backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, and riding her motorcycle at the track.
