A native of the Tri-Cities, Dr. Gabriel Hommel received his undergraduate and medical degrees from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. His post-graduate medical training consisted of an internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Following his residency, Dr. Hommel completed a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at The Hughston Clinic in Columbus, GA under the direction of Dr. Champ L Baker, Jr.

Dr. Hommel’s published works in orthopaedic journals include “A Quantitative Analysis of Tension Band Plating of the Femur Diaphysis” and “Normal Anatomy and Biomechanics of the Knee.”

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Hommel has extensive experience in arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine, joint replacement, orthopaedic trauma, and general orthopaedics.
