An Arizona native, Dr. Stewart grew up in Mesa; graduating Summa Cum Lade from Arizona State University with a degree in Exercise Science. During his undergraduate studies he took part in the athletic training program at ASU and assisted in the care of athletes.

He attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern at Dallas and elected to remain there to complete his Orthopedic Surgery training. After residency, Dr. Stewart completed a fellowship in Sports Orthopedics with the University of California San Diego, San Diego State University and the San Diego Padres.
