Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, Dr. Tod Ghormley attended the University of Houston and earned his medical degree with high honors at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1984. He completed his internship as well as his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock General Hospital in 1989.

After his residency, Dr. Ghormley moved to Arkansas, joining Dr. McCarron at Conway Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic in 1989. He is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Arkansas Medical Society, Arkansas Orthopaedic Society, Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society, and the Christian Medical & Dental Association.
