Dr. Jay Binder is a native of New Orleans, attending Brother Martin High School and working in the family bakery as a young man. He then attended the Honor’s College at USM, finishing Magna Cum Laude in Chemistry and Pre-Med. He then earned an MD/MPH from Tulane, as well as completing orthopedic training and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Tulane (wtih Dr Michael Brunet). He believes in conservative, non-surgical treatment when possible and uses minimally invasive or arthroscopic treatment whenever possible (if surgery is required).

A Board-certified and Fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon, Binder was the director of the Sports Medicine Center and a partner of The Bone and Joint Center in Metairie, Louisiana from 1992-2014.
