Dr. Abbas joined Arizona Oncology and the Cancer Transplant Institute in July 2013. He received his Bachelors of Science in Biology from Davidson College. He completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and his Internship, Internal Medicine residency, and Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.
Dr. Abbas was a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee for the Medical University of South Carolina. He served as a guest lecturer on myeloma and a preceptor for the South Carolina College of Medicine, as well as serving as a moderator for the Hematology Journal Club.
Dr. Abbas has participated in a number of research studies involving myeloma and stem cell collections. He has publications in several journals, including Bone Marrow Transplant. His research interests include the manipulation of the immune system following allogeneic bone marrow transplant, the treatment of myeloma and T cell NHL, and development of disease treatment models to treat acute leukemia.
