Born and raised on a small farm in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, Dr. Jenkins has since remained in the area. He graduated from the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Honors Program and received his medical degree at ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine in 2003. Dr. Jenkins performed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, followed by an AO Fellowship with Dr. Ian Harris at the Liverpool Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
As a sports medicine expert, Dr. Jenkins focuses on arthroscopic procedures involving the shoulder, wrist, hip, and knee as well as joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He also treats traumatic injuries, such as wrist fractures and complex lower extremity injuries.
