Dr. William Lubken obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Oregon Health Science Center in 1975. While attending Dental School he was commissioned as a reserve officer in the United States Air Force. After graduating with Highest Honors he entered active duty and serve for three years as a general dentist. Having an interest in the field of periodontics since dental school he was accepted to the Graduate Program in Periodontics at the University of Washington while continuing on active duty in the Air force.

He obtained his Certificate in Periodontics in 1980 and continued his active duty as the periodontist at McChord Air Force Base. In 1984 he separated from Active Duty and entered into private practice in Gig Harbor, Washington. At this time he also continued his military service, entering the Air Force Reserve and untimely retired in 1995. Dr. Lubken is pleased to have joined the practice of Dr. Silvia at Sound Surgical Arts in 2016.
